Nadai Fujisoba

Hello there! I said I would try to post more book reviews and yet here I am posting about food again. Haha! Well, well, but who wouldn’t love a good soba noodle soup right? So we gave out Nadai Fujisoba (SM Megamall branch) a try. Just to give you a heads up, my brother was not much of a big fan of Japanese food and I would prefer sushis and sashimis over ramen bowls. But somehow, Nadai Fujisoba truly was a savory treat for our family.

Before we jump into the food pictures and drool once again, let us look into the story of Nadai Fujisoba which I copied at the site (fujisoba.ph):

Nadai Fujisoba is the oldest 24/7 soba restaurant in Japan. In 1966, we built our first soba noodle store in Shibuya, which also serves as our flagship store.

During Japan’s economic boom, we built our stores to cater to on-the-run businessmen, and the community has continued to support us ever since. We serve more than 58,000 meals per day by opening our stores 24-hours.

You can find Nadai Fujisoba when you come to the bustling areas in Tokyo, like Asakusa, Ueno Akihabara, Roppongi, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro.

In 2014, we also started our first store in Taiwan, and it has went on to become a great success for our brand.

We believe that customers in Philippines will like our signature Japanese buckwheat noodle. It is our pleasure to bring to you the best soba noodle Japan has to offer!

There you have it, authentic Japanese soba noodle bowls at it’s finest! So here we go with the pictures that both you and I love to stare.

My dad and brother chose this same meal and dad had the extra plain soba noodles.

Potato Croquette

It had tiny meat pieces in it, it was okay but better if you dip it in the sauce.

Mixed vegetables. Yum!

My mom and I had this meal. We both were full and satisfied.

Overall, it was certainly a heavy meal for our family and we quite enjoyed it. The broth was really tasty and complements every ingredient in it. I specifically love the egg, that is half cooked and makes the soup taste a bit creamier when I popped its yolk. We truly had an enjoyable meal and not bad for Japanese food.

Merci beaucoup et á bientôt!

Culasa

After school today, I had my lunch in a dainty café here in Palanan, Makati named Culasa, which is a quirky name for a café. Anyhoots, I decided to give this all pink resto a try, since they offer Lunch Specials at 99 Php (which is still expensive for a student on a budget!). 😛 Btw, Culasa offers a wide range of meals from pastas to sandwiches, pastries to beef and pork meals.

Entering the café has a girly and homely feel, the place is not drastically cold but just enough to relieve the heat. I ordered the Chix Steak for Lunch and gave in to my chocolate desires with their Nutella cake (150 Php, still expensive but my sweet tooth is driving me crazy). You can sit down and the waitress would hand over the menu like in a typical restaurant, but I didn’t haha #gutom. I ordered and paid for it on the counter, which totally fine and be sure to keep your receipt! 🙂

My main course took around 3-5 minutes before serving and boy it was hot! Staring at it made me count the number of carbs I am about to consume! Haha 😛

Heart-shaped rice!

It was quite a heavy meal for lunch. The chicken fillet and gravy sauce tastes good albeit almost similar to KFC’s Chicken strips minus the parsley bits. But in comparison, this one is more filling. I had a hard time finishing my meal, good thing my dress had no zipper or buttons that would pop! 😛 That would be embarrassing.

The Nutella Cake
The Nutella Cake

However, the Nutella Cake wasn’t as good as I expected. Yep, no hint of Nutella taste 😦 and the chiffon texture was a too dry for me, but would it satisfy my craving for chocolates? Yeah, it would suffice. Perhaps, I should try the Nutella Fudge next time and that costs around 55 Php per piece. o_O Nevertheless, it is good to give in to new things and surroundings once in a while. Overall the lunch wasn’t so bad, but for a student with a tight budget it would make you think twice to spend that much. 😉
